Back in August of 2016 at an event being held just outside of Toronto I was privileged to be introduced to an impressive new drink, SoCIAL LITE Vodka. It currently retails in Alberta, British Colombia as well as Ontario. Now I wish I could describe to you the heat that day in a way that would allow you to comperehend my immense need for a crisp refreshment; this after standing out in the scorching sun for a short while. While my desire manifested some more I became interested in a conversation I was hearing from just across the grass at another tent, “… cool, refreshing and light…,” is what I overheard. I took it as a sign and quickly ran over to the tent bearing the 355ml black and lime-green cans, with drops of ice-water running down their exteriors.
It was then and there that I became acquinted with Dan Beach, Executive for SoCIAL LITE Vodka; as he first shared with me the story of how the drink, and brand, came to be. He explained that himself and two of his friends (Kevin and Neetu), whom all maintained an active lifestyle, wanted to find a way to indulge in a healthy social life without any reprocussions; whether that be a hangover the following day or poor health that can be developed from drinking alcohol. We are all susceptible nonethless. It all began in their kitchen and soon became something bigger than it was potentially expected to be. Since it’s conception they have grown to retail their product in 3 provinces while introducing two new flavours. To boot, they have now intergrated Arlene Dickinson from Dragon’s Den into their SoCIAL LITE Vodka family to strengthen it even more.
Once I had heard all of this, Dan poured me a sip from the slender can decorated with chic-green and black branding into a plastic cup. I threw it back and my love was instant.
The original flavour, Lime Ginger, is absolutely to die for; tangy but not bitter, refreshing but not powerful, and fizzy but not too overwhelming. Lime is certainly the dominant flavour with hints of ginger in every sip, blended into a vodka-soda. It is no wonder that it has become such a difficult item for LCBO to keep on their shelves. The kicker here is that the flavours are 100% natural with no added sugars or artificial flavours, weighing in at a super-light 80 callories. It is safe to say that you could pound a few back and not become a haggard Haggrid the following day. What a DREAM!
While the brand continues to grow the two new flavours they have developed and launched are Lemon Cucumber Mint as well as Pineapple Mango. These additional flavours are currently available in Alberta and British Colombia, so us Ontarians must sit patiently and await their release onto shelves in an LCBO nearest us.
Being someone who has partied hardy for a few years of my life I am definitely resistant to the possibility of being consumed by a hangover after a night-out, or even a night held at home. I have suffered my fair share from doing so and truly despise wasting a full day for a good night; there is no balance in doing so, not for me anyways. This is why SoCIAL LITE Vodka is the ideal drink for myself to indulge in when I chose to drink, which is really just on the occassion. If you are anything like me a sugar-filled drink will give you a massive headache, which is why I am glad I could share with you this beautiful creation that I myself was also personally introduced to.
Thank you, Dan Beach.
If you prefer a drink that requires a smaller commitment in terms of the reprocussions associated when it drinking, you must look no further. SoCIAL LITE Vodka will become your saving grace as it has been mine.
With that being said it is Friday after all, so a TGIF to you with hopes for a pleasant weekend ahead.
